The City of East St. Louis has laid off 30% of it's police force and defaulted on bond payments, or in government speak, has deferred payment. Concerns now arise that crime will now run rampant.
"It’s open field day now," said Tracy, the pastor of Straightway Baptist Church here. "The criminals are going to run wild."
Gang activity. Drug dealing. Cold-blooded killing. Tracy worries that a decision to shrink the police force by almost 30 percent will bring more of everything.
Additionally a town in Greece has also defaulted....are these initial signals the economic maneuverings of governments is failing?

Though both areas far away from us Floridians, this might give us advance warning of more dire things to come close by. Cities, towns and counties may decide to reduce or even stop certain safety services, this has already happened in several areas around the country.
